Amazing Benefits of Turmeric – Health benefits of Turmeric – Amazing Herbs and Plants

Health benefits of Turmeric

Turmeric has been in use since antiquity for its anti-inflammatory (painkiller), carminative, anti-flatulent and anti-microbial properties.

The herb contains health benefiting essential oils such as termerone, curlone, curumene, cineole, and p-cymene.

This popular herb contains no cholesterol; however, it is rich in anti-oxidants and dietary fiber, which helps to control blood LDL or "bad cholesterol" levels.

Fresh root contains very good levels of vitamin-C. 100 of root compose of 23.9 mg of this vitamin. Vitamin C is a water-soluble vitamin and a powerful natural anti-oxidant, which helps the body develop immunity against infectious agents, and remove harmful free oxygen radicals.

Turmeric contains very good amounts of minerals like calcium, iron, potassium, manganese, copper, zinc, and magnesium. Potassium is an important component of cell and body fluids that helps in controlling heart rate and blood pressure. Manganese is utilised by the human body as a co-factor for the antioxidant enzyme, superoxide dismutase. Iron is an important co-factor for cytochrome oxidase enzymes at cellular level metabolisms and required for red blood cell (RBC's) productions.

Just a few grams of turmeric per day either in the form of powder, crushed root or fresh root can provide enough nutrients to help you keep away from anemia, neuritis, memory disorders and offer protection against cancers, infectious diseases, high blood pressure, and strokes.

Dr Wallach explains the effects of being deficient in calcium.

85% of the total mineral is calcium. There's 147 different diseases you can get from a calcium deficiency.

Top 10
Osteoporosis:
The number 10 killer of adults in the United States. Remember, 75% of those over the age of 65 who fracture a hip or leg bone don't live 90 days. Also, it's the most horrible disease when it comes to human misery and dollars expended. Now as horrible a disease as Osteoporosis is, in human beings, we don't have Osteoporosis in animals because we don't have Blue Cross, Blue Shield, major medical hospitalization, Medicare and Medicaid to pay for non-essential surgical treatments for mineral deficiency, we've learned that by putting animals who are weaned off their mother's milk onto 10 cents of calcium as soon as they are weaned, they won't get arthritis or Osteoporosis.

Receding gums:
Dentists and dental hygienists will tell you to floss and brush after every meal. If you believe that works I have some ocean-front property in Montana to sell you. If you have receding gums or periodontitis, gingivitis, pyorrhea, loose teeth, bridges and plates, you have Osteoporosis in the facial bones and jaw bones. We don't get receding gums in animals even though they don't floss or brush, and that's because we have cured the Osteoporosis problem in animals.

Arthritis:

85% of all arthritis is called wear and tear arthritis. Osteo arthritis, degenerative arthritis, ankleospinalitis(?). These things are nothing more than Osteoporosis of the joint ends of the bones.

· Hypertension/High Blood Pressure:

As you learned, has nothing to do with salt, or salt restriction. 85% of hypertension not related to kidney disease, which is most of them, not related to kidney disease, is, in fact, a calcium deficiency.

· Insomnia:

Is not a deficiency of sleeping pills, halcyon or barbiturates, it's a deficiency of calcium.

· Kidney stones/bone spurs/heel spurs/calcium deposits:

Again, the medical profession has the malignant dumb belief that these things are due to too much calcium in your diet, try to give up calcium. When, in fact, you only get kidney stones/bone spurs/heel spurs and calcium deposits when you have raging osteoporosis. You actually need more calcium, more magnesium, not less.

· Cramps and twitches:

You have a calcium deficiency.

· PMS:

The University of California, San Diego, 8 years ago now, came out and said that 85% o the emotional and physical stuff of PMS can be relieved, eliminated and cured by taking 3 times the RDA of calcium.

· Low back pain:

Has nothing to do with disk problems. I know you have heard of people, maybe even yourself who have had disk surgery for back pain, and after the surgery still had the pain, maybe even worse. Because back pain is not caused by disk problems. If you have a disk problem, you can have numbness and tingling, maybe even paralysis if it's very severe, but disk problems do not cause pain. If you have low back pain, the odds are you have cramps and spasms in the large muscle group, inside and outside your lower back. These can sublexate(?), or hit the line in your vertebrae and be uncomfortable, cause a lot of pain. You also have bone spurs, calcium deposits, arthritis, osteoporosis. These are the things that cause low back pain. Now you're educated, you're never going to say "Doc, you're the doctor", because you've gone through this lecture tonight, and unfortunately most Americans have not heard this lecture yet, and as a result, they will spend between $25,000 and $250,000 and voluntarily undergo 5 to 10 surgical procedures for nothing more than the top ten calcium deficiencies. In any other industry that would be fraud and they would be shut down. Something you can fix for 25 cents and you walk out with a $5,000 bill, you would be ticked off. You would want to talk to the manager. You would want your money back. You would call the Better Business Bureau. You would call the State Attorney General. You'd complain. Class action suit. It would be a big mess. But the medical profession, everybody just runs to the government and says we need more money to pay for it. Kind of fascinating.
(TRUST ME, I'M A DOCTOR)

Functions of Calcium :

1. Major function is to build bones and teeth.
2. Reduces insomnia.
3. Needed for acid/base balance.
4. Balances potassium and sodium for muscle tone.
5. Aids in regulation of heartbeat.
6. Assists in the clotting of blood.
7. Aids muscle contraction, nerve transmission.

Deficiency Symptoms of Calcium

1. Stunted Growth.
2. Calcium tetany – leg cramps.
3. Numbness, tingling in arms and legs.
4. Children, Rickets; Adults, Osteomalcia.
5. Nervousness, heart palpitations, slow pulse.

Dark Chocolate
Hooray for dark chocolate! Eating about 30 calories a day of dark chocolate — just one tiny square — was shown to help lower blood pressure after 18 weeks without weight gain or other adverse effects, according to a study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA). Choose dark chocolate consisting of at least 70 percent cocoa powder. Because chocolate is also high in calories, you'll want to be very careful not to overdo it.

Soybeans
Soybeans are another excellent source of potassium and magnesium. Look for soybeans in the pod (edamame) in the freezer case at your grocery store; for a healthy snack, boil one cup and pop them directly out of the shell into your mouth. If you miss the salt, lightly sprinkle with salt substitute.

Bananas
This functional fruit is packed with potassium, so it's a great choice for an on-the-go snack. Add a banana to your breakfast (my Strawberry-Banana Cottage Cheese With Almonds makes a great morning meal) or for an evening treat, slice a banana into several half-inch wheels, place them in a small plastic bag, and freeze. Frozen bananas — yum!

Baked White Potato
Potatoes are rich in both magnesium and potassium, two vital nutrients for heart health. When potassium is low, the body retains extra sodium (and too much sodium raises blood pressure). On the other hand, when you eat a potassium-rich diet, the body becomes more efficient at getting rid of excess sodium. Like potassium, magnesium is also a key player in promoting healthy blood flow. Therefore, maintaining a healthy balance of both minerals can help keep high blood pressure at bay.

Beans
Nutritious and versatile, beans (including black, white, navy, lima, pinto, and kidney) are chock-full of soluble fiber, magnesium, and potassium, all excellent ingredients for lowering blood pressure and improving overall heart health. Add beans to your favorite salads, soups, or wraps; as a bonus, they're pretty inexpensive.

Unsalted Sunflower Seeds
Sunflower seeds are also a great source of magnesium. A quarter cup of these makes a nutritious snack — but be sure to buy them unsalted, since salted sunflower seeds are high in sodium, which you want to avoid.

Spinach
A green leafy delight, spinach is low in calories, high in fiber, and packed with heart-healthy nutrients like potassium, folate, and magnesium — key ingredients for lowering and maintaining blood pressure levels. An easy way to eat more of this great green? Try mixing fresh spinach leaves into salads or adding them to sandwiches.

Skim Milk
It truly does a body good! Drinking heart-healthy skim milk or 1 percent milk will provide you with calcium and vitamin D — the two nutrients work as a team to help reduce blood pressure by 3 to 10 percent. Although this doesn't sound like much, it could add up to about a 15 percent reduction in risk for cardiovascular disease.

Please leave comments and questions here:

appy Monday everyone!

Continuing to help raise awareness on the dangers of heart disease during the month of February (Heart Health Month), today’s video is all about the best foods to eat to help lower your blood pressure.

A couple of weeks ago I shared a video on 9 Habits to Help Lower Blood Pressure. If you’ve not watched that video, go back and do so because it gives an overview of what lifestyle factors you can embrace to help you manage your blood pressure naturally. Sometimes it’s just a matter of making one or two shifts in your habits that can lead to your success.

Food is medicine and medicine is food. There is no distinction and unfortunately, we’ve been taught differently. Through marketing and misleading information, we’ve been told we can eat virtually whatever we want and then, when something goes awry with our health, there is a pill out there that can help us manage it.

But all medications come with side effects and sometimes those side effects can mean having to take more and more pills! This never happens when you clean up your diet and use a balanced approach to health. When you change the way you eat and the way you live your life, you not only often get the results you intended, but the side effect is often that you feel and look better too!

Once you’ve checked out today’s video, I want to hear from you! Specifically, did you use dietary changes successfully as a means to lower blood pressure? How many of these foods did you include? And have you ever tasted the bonus food mentioned at the end of the video? I would love to hear your feedback.

I am wishing you all a happy and healthy week~
